Apple addicts

Nearly all iPad owners already own an Apple product such as an iPhone, Mac or iPod.

A quarterly survey by YouGov of 715 iPad owners hinted at brand loyalty as 96 percent of them already own another Apple product.

The survey outlines owners' reasons for purchase, whether they opted for Wi-Fi or 3G versions, how they appraise their mobile network, frequency and locations of use and user satisfaction relating to the iPad's size, weight and ease of use in comparison with other smartphones and e-readers.

It also investigated how many other devices the respondents own, how much money they spend on content and operator fees plus whether they have found the iPad's lack of Flash a hindrance.

Apple has experienced phenomenal success with its tablet, which is predicted to shift over 13m units by the end of this year. The firm is also rumoured to be putting the finishing touches to a smaller iPad with a 7 inch screen, which is believed to be launched later this year or early in 2011.

A controversial recent survey has said most iPad owners are likely to be power-hungry ‘selfish elites' who are also probably greedy, when ‘analysing' the iPad's appeal.

YouGov interviewed over 2,000 UK adults to gain an insight into the popular tablet's potential purchasers to discover their reasons for purchase and why they might reject the format.

"As the project develops it is anticipated the number of tablet brands will increase and the number of owners interviewed will grow in line with the market. The report is aimed at those companies in the market and preparing for launch. By Christmas this is expected to be a much more crowded marketplace with a number of consumer goods brands providing alternatives to the iPad," said Russell Feldman, research manager in YouGov's technology and telecoms team.

BlackBerry manufacturer Research in Motion (RIM) plans on launching a tablet rival dubbed 'Blackpad' in November, with a host of other manufacturers also expected to wade into the market.

All iPad owners already own an Apple producer? Which one? Del Monte?

What, no editors?
Well of course us immune to the apple marketing machine don't understand. But those once blinkered by the apple logo are more likely to fall victim again.
