A Facebook application called MyType has deduced iPad owners tend to be elitist, selfish and greedy, in a recent poll.

The social networking application, which lets users answer quizzes to determine their personality traits, asked 20,000 people from March to May this year to figure out what type of person buys an iPad.

It concluded: "iPad owners are an elite bunch. They're wealthy, highly educated and sophisticated. They value power and achievement much more than others. They're also selfish, scoring low on measures of kindness and altruism."

Interestingly, only 3 percent of those polled intend on buying or already own an iPad. Studying this group, the application claimed this ‘selifish elites' group was six times more likely to buy an iPad than an average person.

The poll also found ‘elite' does not necessarily mean rich despite the iPad's $499 price tag.  It said ‘elite' refers to characteristics that define a 'leadership class,' including intellectuals, poliyical influencers and business execs, describing them as ‘screen-bound workaholics' who desire to work on the go.

While MyType pointed out Apple's marketing has positioned the iPad as a slick leisure product for watching films and browsing the net, those interested in business are more likely to be iPad owners

Based on a series of seemingly unrelated questions, it also deduced: "Those who identified lust as their biggest sin are 70% more likely [to own an iPad], while self-professed gluttons are 88% more likely."
