Broadband consolidation

Back in May we reported that Tiscali was available to buy but that the competitive bidding process had initially been a non-starter.

Subsequently Carphone Warehouse announced it was "involved in the process", but today it has emerged that BSkyB is actively sniffing around Tiscali UK.

Tiscali made the following short statement on the matter: "With regard to what has been reported by the press and following Consob's request, Tiscali clarifies that it is currently holding talks with the BSkyB Group plc in relation to certain UK assets."

Consob stands for Commissione Nazionale per le Società e la Borsa and is Italy's official body for regulating companies and stock exchanges.

We contacted Carphone Warehouse to find out if it was now out of the running. Its press office was prepared only to reiterate its stance that it won't pay over the odds for acquisitions.

That's one easy way for Sky to drag down their service and reputation. Tiscali are the pits when it comes to broadband and telephony!
this is bad!
Sky Broadband are a brilliant ISP, they don't need to go and ruin it by buying Tiscali, stupid BSkyB!
So, I'm with Nildram. Who were bought by Pipex, then Tiscali and now potentially by BSkyB.

Amazingly my service hasn't suffered through all this. I guess it goes to show you should pay for a decent ISP.
..and that you can't ALWAYS judge an ISP by who owns them - we have quite a lot of business ADSL connections with Nildram, and they've always been pretty good with us.
I hope they do

Over the last few years most half decent ISPS have been killed off, pipex purchased nildram. then bulldog then Tiscali purchased pipex which imo was a huge mistake

Sky need to sort their CS out but they do have a good system
