A whiter shade of pale

The delays to the white iPhone 4 were caused by pale parts meddling with the camera's picture quality, according to Apple cofounder Steve Wozniak, confirming rumours of light leakage.

At launch, it was said that the iPhone 4 would come in black and white flavours, but numerous delays kept pushing the launch of the (still unreleased) white iPhone back, with the press seizing on any sighting of the fabled handset in the wild.

Speaking to Engadget, [via VentureBeat] Wozniak confessed that he ordered white iPhone parts from a teen who somehow got hold of them off Foxconn, the manufacturer of Apple's smartphone and when he tried to take a photo with his now white iPhone's flash camera, the photo ‘looked like it had been taken through cellophane,' confirming rumours of light leakage.

He also reportedly admitted that the white parts also caused problems with the phone's ‘proximity sensor,' (with some commentators speculating that he meant the ambient light sensor.)

However, fanboys will be thrilled to know that Apple has now solved the problems and that the fabled White iPhone 4 is ‘coming soon'.

Wozniak also apparently praised Google's Android operating system, despite getting himself in trouble with Apple for doing so before, when he reportedly described Android as the smartphone with ‘the most features' to a Dutch newspaper, but claimed he was misquoted.

He reportedly likes the voice commands on the Android platform, plus the Swype software keyboard on Android and Symbian.
