Sky has launched a Sky+ app for the iPad, which lets users record programmes at home from their trusty tablet.

iPad users with a Sky+ or Sky+HD set-top box can now search for and record shows regardless of their geographical location.

The app also includes a highlight showcase section where customers can find TV picks of the day on Sky TV plus a new recommendation engine that suggests similar programmes to watch based on what the customer has watched and recorded in the past.

It also boasts a 7 day electronic programme guide so users can browse listings by time, day, genre, programme name or by what is showing in HD quality.

Once a show has been selected, users can tap the record button and their programme will be set to record on their home set top box.

The new app has also been designed to work with the Sky Mobile App for iPad, which offers live access to the Sky Sports channels plus Sky News. Cunning customers who have downloaded both apps can click through to Sky TV directly from the Sky+ app and access live content.

David Gibbs, general manager for Sky Mobile said: "We are delighted to bring our popular Sky+ App to iPad with several new features which give our customers even more flexibility in discovering, watching and recording the TV they love."
