Tablet-tastic?

Orange and T-Mobile will offer subsidised iPads for customers that take out a data service plan.

Fans of Apple's tablet will be able to grab one from either of the firms in ‘the coming months' and can register their interest on Orange's website.

While there is no official news on how much contracts will cost, City AM has reported that the hardware will be ‘heavily discounted' to the tune of around £200 for the 3G version if customers sign up to an 18 month or 24 month contract, mimicking a pricing strategy commonly used for mobiles. Currently a 3G iPad will set fans back £529, possibly making a contract seem appealing to many people.

While Orange has said the tablets should hit the shops in a matter of months, City AM said it has heard that the iPad could arrive at Orange and T-Mobile shops in time for Christmas.

Whenever the tablet does come to their stores, consumers will no doubt hope such a change in strategy for Apple could spark a price war and drive down the price of Apple's tablet and perhaps its rivals' too.
