Samsung has announced details of the pre-loaded content on its forthcoming Galaxy Tab including a couple of games, in a bid to differentiate from the iPad and add value.

It has partnered with Gameloft to develop a handful of games especially for the tablet, which will hit the shops on 1 November. Two games - a shoot-em up called N.O.V.A. Near Orbit Vanguard Alliance HD and racing game Asphalt 5 HD will be embedded at launch.

The titles take advantage of the tablet's accelerometer and gyroscope for motion-sensitive gaming and also allow multiplayer and peer-to-peer battles. The gaming firm has also created another 5 titles for the Galaxy Tab which will be available to download from launch. They are: Let's Golf HD, Gangstar: West Coast Hustle HD, Dungeon Hunter HD, Hero of Sparta HD and Modern Combat: Sandstorm HD.

It will also be loaded with content from Samsung Movies including trailers of Transformers 2, Clash of the Titans, The Dark Night and The Hangover, but more importantly some 1,000 films will be able available to download from the Samsung Movies site from 99p to rent. The tablet can act as a share point so films can be streamed to laptops and TVs too.

Samsung has also announced content deals with WHSmith and The FT in time for its tablet's launch. An embedded FT app will let users download a daily version of the paper adapted for the 7 inch screen tablet and read it offline, as well as view their personal investment portfolios.

The FT was among the first group of publications that produced a version for Apple's iPad, but this will be its first Android and HTML5 based app.

WHSmith has also got in on the app action to give Galaxy Tab users access to its eBook store. It has also been designed to produce ‘an immersive reading experience' offering a choice of viewing options within the app.
