Beyond the pale?
Apple fans waiting to get their hands on a white iPhone 4 will have to wait until spring of next year despite a few spotted in the wild.
Apple told The Daily Telegraph the fresh crop of white iPhones will be ready by next spring at the earliest, although Stephen Fry has already been seen flaunting his must-have handset.
The paler flavour of Apple's latest smartphone was meant to be ready when the iPhone 4 launched back in June and Apple had promised the white version would be in shops by the end of this year.
"We're sorry to disappoint customers waiting for the white iPhone yet again, but we've decided to delay its release until spring," Apple reportedly said.
While rumours have persisted of the ‘wrong' kind of white and problems with the backlight, Apple is believed to have vaguely said that the white iPhone is ‘more challenging to manufacture' than it originally thought...despite the iPhone 3GS being available in the same colour.
While some fanboys may be disappointed there is not white handset yet, it seems plenty of people are happy with Apple's black offering as the firm said it has sold over 14.1m iPhones in Q3 of this year.
Meanwhile, Apple addicts will be pleased to know they can now get a free engraving if they buy an iPad from the company's website, just in time for Christmas, T3 reported.
Apple reportedly said: "Make it a gift they'll never forget - or make it uniquely yours. Just add a personal message such as a name, a favourite saying or song title, an 'I love you' or 'Happy Birthday,' just about anything."
Customers can reportedly choose a message of up to 36 characters spread over 2 lines and can even get their iPad gift-wrapped for an extra £3.
