Hot handset?

Nokia has announced the pricing of its social network friendly C7 handset, which will be available in the UK from 1 November.

Customers can buy Nokia's second Symbian^3 phone from its online store for £389 PAYG or get the handset ‘free' with a £25 a month contract. The C7 will also be available from The Carphone Warehouse, O2, Phones4u, Three Mobile, Virgin Mobile, Vodafone, and T-Mobile from 1 November.

Made from stainless steel and glass, the C7 boasts a 3.5 inch Amoled touchscreen, 8MP camera, Web TV and also incorporates HD video. It is designed to be user-friendly for social networking addicts with rolling networking updates and one touch access to email accounts too.

Sami Lehtinen, general manager at Nokia UK, said: "The Nokia C7 combines beautiful design with loads of great apps and powerful media tools, it really brings social networking to life at the touch of a button."

Nokia has also recently launched a competition to find its most active Facebook users from more than 1.4m fans on its own Facebook page.

It will pick 5 finalists who will each be given a C7 to organise a party using different social networking tools, the winner being the person who best captures their bash through Facebook and generates the most coverage. The winner will bag a phone for themselves plus a handset for 20 of their friends.

Oh look, Symbian.

It's like staring into the OS of the future… in 1998!
