Logitech has scheduled an event to trumpet its Google TV products, cheekily beating Sony to its big Google TV announcement.

Sony had planned an event on 12 October, but Logitech has snuck in ahead of the Japanese giant, scheduling its own Google TV launch event on 6 October, according to CNET.

The invitation to the Logitech event reportedly reads: "Google TV will be a new experience that combines TV, the entire Web, and apps--as well as a way to search across them all."

The event will be lead by Logitech's VP of products, Junien Labrousse and it is widely thought he will spill the beans on Logitech's Revue TV box.

The invite said that Labrousse will unveil Logitech's "line of products for Google TV," hinting that there may be more to show off than the TV box or the possibly the Revue in different flavours.

Ashish Arora, VP of the firm's digital home group write in a blog this summer: "Logitech Revue is a companion box and controller that brings the experience of Google TV to your TV screen. It combines everything on the Web, cable or satellite content, apps, video calling and more that will be wildly popular between 2010 and 2030, until we reinvent interaction again."

"The meaning of Revue is a type of multi-act theatrical entertainment that combined music, dance and sketches - wildly popular between 1910 and 1930," Arora added, incase you were wondering.

However, the Revue is due to face stiff competition for a place in people's living rooms, as Apple TV has been released in the US and the Boxee Box is due to hit the UK in November.
