The Sky's the limit

Sky has boosted its 3D TV push with a promotional video starring ubiquitous national treasure Stephen Fry.

Sky is undoubtedly hoping tech-loving Fry's clip will be able to shed a little light on the workings and advantages of 3D TV for Joe public.

"3D TV is no longer a gimmick and it's poised to revolutionise the way we enjoy our entertainment," Fry enthused before describing the different types of set and glasses available and answering the important question, "will it make grandma's eyes pop out?"

Sky is heavily pushing its 3D wares ahead of the launch of its dedicated 3D channel on 1 October. It has touted it as the ‘next development' in its TV arsenal, following on from Sky Digital, Sky+ and Sky+ HD.

The 3D channel which is said to be the UK's first, was announced in July complete with a film  line-up for the near future.

People wanting to watch the new channel, which promises to show a cocktail of popular shows, movies and sports will need a 3D ready TV and glasses plus Sky+ HD box and HD pack.

Here is the very mildly amusing video.

Perhaps, but I'm suddenly compelled to buy a 3D TV.

Seriously, that man could sell me anything.
Interesting how they go on about who invented 3D TV at the end, clearly is wasn't Fry, but they do allude to it being Sky, when it clearly wasn't.
