First-time-user friendly
Set for release on 1 May, the Android-powered LG Optimus is aimed at first-time smartphone users, seeking to combine user-friendly applications with convenient mobile access and hoping to tap the first-time-buyer.
President and CEO of LG Electronics, Dr. Skott Ahn said: "This is a device that was designed for regular people who want to jump into the smartphone experience but have been hesitant to do so because of the learning curve. By making LG Optimus more approachable, we hope more people will give smartphones a try."
By now the look. and feel of Android has become quite familiar. The customisable interface is user friendly and can be customised to show from three to seven home screens displaying frequently used applications and regularly updated information. Navigation is made simpler by editable main menu categories.
As with any smartphone worth its salt, access to social networking sites has been made readily available, and network updates have been integrated with the contact lists so the user doesn't even have to sign on to see what their friends are doing.
The phone's 3MP camera comes with social networking features such as geo-tagging, auto face-tagging and face-to-action, allowing for photos to go from the phone straight to profiles without needing to edit them on the site.
Not to be out done by competitors, the LG Optimus comes with a range of entertainment features including advanced media player allows users to watch DivX and Xvid videos directly, and a built-in video editor with storyboard function so music and text to videos can be added directly on the phone.
Here's a nice, shiny corporate video for you.
