Acer has announced that its high-end smartphone - the Liquid - is now available to buy on a contract for the first time in the UK via Carphone Warehouse.
The Liquid was launched last October and has, until now, only been available on a SIM-free basis. The CPW deal uses T-Mobile as the operator, but seems to be exclusive to the retailer. ‘Free' deals start at £25 per month, which compares favourably to many other high-end smartphones.
"We are committed to offering the widest range of the best smartphones to our customers and are excited to bring the Acer Liquid, one of 2010's most highly anticipated smartphones to our stores across the UK," said Graham Stapleton, chief commercial officer at CPW.
There is a bit of a Nexus One flavour to the Liquid as it too runs Android and packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC. But while the Googlephone uses the latest version of Android - 2.1 - the Liquid uses 1.6, otherwise known as Donut.
Acer did launch an Android 2.1 version of the phone - the Liquid e - at this year's Mobile World Congress, but there's no news about when this will be available yet.
