More than a Wispa
With apparently very little fanfare, PC giant Dell has made its US smartphone move via operator AT&T. It launched the Android-based Mini 3 towards the end of last year in China and Brazil, now it's coming to America under the name of Aero.
Not to be confused with the bubbly chocolate, the Aero seems to have the same spec as the Mini 3. Here are the specs from the Chinese launch, and rarely mentioned is the fact that it runs a Marvell SoC:
- Form Factor: Tablet/PDA
- Dimensions: 58.35 x 122 x 11.7
- Display: 3.5" nHD, 640x360
- Bands/Modes: Quadband GSM/EDGE
- Weight: <105g (grams)
- Bluetooth
- GPS
- Micro SD (up to 32GB)
- Connector: Mini USB
AT&T doesn't divulge too much more info about the Aero, such as price and precise availability. Furthermore, we still don't know when we can expect it over here, either. The fact that AT&T has identified its weight as its USP implies the rest of the package will be more or less in line with other Android smartphones, with the inevitable emphasis on social networking on the move.
