Paying for the privilege

When Google first launched the Nexus One at the start of the year was wondered what it was playing at. Not only did it risk alienating other handset makers by favouring HTC, it also undermined the mobile operators by making a big noise about how it was cutting them out of the loop.

Having played with a Nexus One for a little while now, and appreciated how much it is geared up to showcasing not only the capabilities of Android, but seamless integration with Google's many cloud offerings, we're now convinced that it is intended primarily as a showcase for the OS - and by extension Google - rather than a genuine attempt to make money by itself.

Nonetheless is it a pretty cool handset, and all that Google cloud integration is pretty handy if you're even a moderate Google user. So even if the Nexus One is a great big public beta test of the latest version of Android, it's still viable to pay for the privilege.

For the UK, if the Telegraph's sources are to be believed, the first operator-subsidised Nexus One will arrive in April. It was already known that a Vodafone version would arrive in the Spring, so April always seemed a good bet.

If you're curious to know more about the Nexus One, Google recently published a series of five videos detailing how one is made. The embedded clip below shows the HTC manufacturing phase.

Looks like the Nexus One is going launched after HTC's other offering the HTC Desire

I can confirm that the HTC Desire will be available on T-Mobile from March 26

I know which one I'd rather have… HTC Desire with HTC Sense
So the only question is, will they get any of the issues identified with the US version ironed out for the new version for over here?

Can you elaborate anymore on these issues please?? I've not come across any major show stoppers yet.
