Donut in Liquid form

Computer maker Acer has been rather busy lately, launching a bevy of new products this week, including a smartphone which runs on Qualcomm's Snapdragon chipset and uses Google's updated Android 1.6, otherwise known as Donut.

Acer's Wide-VGA "Liquid" smartphone - available in red, white or black- is apparently the first of its kind to combine Snapdragon with Donut for a rather tasty looking combo. The firm reckons Liquid's "ultra-fluid user interface" will provide punters with "outstanding multimedia, web browsing, social media integration and video streaming," as well as whetting developers' appetites for creating new apps for Android handhelds.

Qualcomm's Snapdragon should ensure snappy access to web pages and fairly smooth streaming of videos/music depending, of course, on the speed of one's HSPA mobile broadband. Snapdragon is also purportedly powerful enough to sink its teeth into apps requiring raw computing power and the capability to handle 3D graphics.

Acer is also boasting that Liquid comes with improved power management for longer battery life, as well as a brand spanking new user interface with easier access to entertainment and web bookmarks. Also, adding to the happy snappiness of the device, Acer has equipped Liquid with a camera capable of geo-tagging, ISO regulation, self-timer options and accelerated auto-focus performance.

The smartphone also comes with "smart integration" of Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, Picasa and Flickr in the address book, showing users real-time notifications of status or content updates. Acer has also added an app called Spinlets, which allows for free streaming of music and video which can apparently be shared through web-posting or e-mail.
