The complex cloud

Hitachi Data Systems (HDS) is a Hitachi subsidiary that specialises in providing data storage solutions to businesses. UK and Ireland sales director Harvey Smith first spoke to HEXUS.channel back in August and we invited him into the HEXUS.tv studios to tell us a bit more about data storage in person.

While data storage is usually just a matter for IT managers and CTOs, it became a much more mainstream concern recently when T-Mobile and Microsoft were feared to have lost a bunch of data belonging to users of the Sidekick device.

While this interview was filmed before this news broke, we do cover some pertinent issues such as storage and the cloud and the inherent risks associated with it.

We also discuss the hot topic of storage virtualisation, which helps businesses use their data storage assets more efficiently and utilise older kit for longer.
