Varied influences

Giant PC maker HP has unveiled a number of new notebooks today, many harnessing contemporary pieces of processor technology.

On top of the HP Mini 311, which brings NVIDIA ION graphics to the Intel Atom platform and which you can read more about on HEXUS.net, HP has also launched a new notebook laptop range, some new thin-and-lights, featuring AMD's second generation platform and Qualcomm's Gobi integrated 3G module.

The luxury range, called ENVY, is equivalently positioned to Dell's Adamo, which launched earlier this year, and seems to borrow from a number of influences. It openly admits to being inspired by the Voodoo ENVY, but that's fair enough as HP owns Voodoo.

It also features non-technical bells and whistles, like artwork etched into the metal chassis and a concierge service, the latter having been pioneered by BFG and its Phobos PCs. There's also an exclusive audio software solution produced in partnership with Beats by Dr. Dre.

There are two models: the ENVY 13 and the ENVY 15, with the former claiming the brightest display in its class and the latter being HP's fastest consumer notebook ever, with an Intel Core i7 CPU.

The HP ENVY 13 and ENVY 15 are expected to be available in the US from 18 October with starting prices of $1,699 and $1,799, respectively. We are hoping to bring you full specs, and UK pricing and availability soon.

Incidentally, HP has also tarted-up the Mini 110 with some clever 3D chassis art from Dutch designer Tord Boontje.
