Perez pucks off

The man behind NVIDIA's unique approach to press relations, Derek Perez, has called it a day at the graphics giant after 11 years. Bizarrely he's leaving the tech business all together and heading up the marketing for an ice hockey team based in Nashville.

The news of Perez leaving was probably delivered earlier than he or NVIDIA wanted, after website SemiAccurate broke the news, prompting a subsequent announcement by Perez on Twitter. Then, earlier this week, Perez again used Twitter (see below) to confirm his new employer as the Ice Hockey team Nashville Predators.

It will be interesting to see what effect this has on NVIDIA's PR policy, which has led to some high profile clashes with journalists in the past. NVIDIA certainly doesn't seem too keen to admit he's gone; the screenshot below of NVIDIA's press site was taken today - two days after Perez has apparently moved on!

You can see footage of Perez interviewing our own David Ross at this year's CES here.
