HEXUS.sharewatch: Apple gains in build-up to WWDC ‘09

What a difference two weeks make. Due to a pause to allow us to go running around Taipei for a week, the last HEXUS.sharewatch was written on 25 May.

On that day most of our list and all three indices showed a fall on the previous week and it looked like the share price rally of the previous two months was finally at an end.

A look at the table below show positive movement for every company and index, with double figure percentage gains the norm.

Some improvement could possibly be attributed to a reminder, at Computex, that there's still plenty of tech business to be done. But the jump in Apple's shares, in advance of its worldwide developer conference (WWDC) due to commence today, shows any optimism is not confined to the PC sector.

Microsoft saw double figure gains as it committed to a launch date for Windows 7 and its Bing search/decision engine went online. Meanwhile investors paid more attention to Dell's continued cost-cutting than its predictable year-on-year fall in profits.
