Bafflingly unique

ASUS is hosting some kind of launch event for its latest Eee PC, which seems to be aimed at the super-thin niche, tomorrow at 10am at three locations on Tottenham Court road in central London.

The Eee PC 1008HA is otherwise known as the ‘Seashell' (as opposed to Clamshell?). It's not a ‘thin and light' notebook however, like the HP dv2 or the Acer Timeline, because it still runs on the good old Intel Atom N280 - although this is an upgraded version of the ubiquitous N270.

The main appeal of this event is the opportunity to win one of these Seashells, although it doesn't seem to be necessary to actually turn up to win one.

There are five being given away in total: one per week for four weeks randomly selected from subscribers to the ASUS UK Twitter feed. The fifth one, bizarrely, goes to the best photo submitted of yourself on a beach (see what they did there?), which will be determined by a public vote on the Seashell website.
