Must be doing something right

Recent figures from both IDC and Gartner reveal Acer is stealing market share by the shed-load from its competitors as its traditional strength - consumer notebooks - remains the only PC category still growing during this recession.

A common assumption about Acer is that it's achieved this primarily through aggressive pricing, but UK boss Bobby Watkins begs to differ in this exclusive interview with HEXUS.channel editor Scott Bicheno.

Watkins describes how the Acer brand is now targeted at a higher-end segment, with acquired brands Packard Bell, Gateway and E-Machines catering for other demographic groups, as described here.

He also shows off a couple of shiny, new notebooks, including its new ‘thin and light' offering - the Timeline - and concludes with a defence of Acer's customer service and the aesthetics of the Predator gaming desktop.
