But how big is it?

Intel reported a sequential fall in revenue but a big jump in profit in the first quarter of 2009. CEO Paul Otellini offered hope for the PC market in his comments.

"We believe PC sales bottomed out during the first quarter and that the industry is returning to normal seasonal patterns," he said.

"Intel has adapted well to the current economic environment and we're benefiting from disciplined execution and agility. We're delivering a product portfolio that meets the needs of the changing market, spanning affordable computing to high-performance, energy-efficient computing."

There were some interesting details revealed in the announcement, although once more Intel declined to give a revenue outlook. Here's the results summary and go to the next page for more.
