You know it makes sense

Intel officially launched its much hyped Nehalem generation of server and workstation processors in the UK today, and the main message it tried to convey is the claimed rapid return on investment (ROI) generated by upgrading from the previous generation.

The Xeon 5500 family launch took place at the punishing time of 9am, but stoical journalists were compensated with bucks fizz afterwards. Meanwhile Graham Palmer, Intel's UK country manager, introduced by claiming "This represents a fundamental change in performance."

He handed over to Tom Kilroy, VP and GM of the digital enterprise group, who moved to address any hyperbole deficiency by stressing: "This is the biggest launch since Pentium Pro."

The performance message was further emphasised by detailing the improvement over Intel's previous generation of server processors on a wide range of benchmarks.
