Moving on

It's been a busy day for former AMD execs. First we brought you the news that Gianluca Degliesposti has joined Acer to push its server and workstation offering, now we hear that Giuseppe Amato, who was the senior face of AMD for much of the technology press, has joined German value-added components distributor MSC in a business development capacity.

We've yet to ascertain Amato's precise job title, but we understand he will be acting as a strategic advisor to the company, with a focus on its European expansion plans.

Our sources also tell us that Amato had also previously been considering the Acer role taken on by his former colleague.

MSC is a privately held German company that designs and distributes technology components to mainly industrial customers. Intriguingly it has one module, called the MSC Q7-US15W, that is based on the Intel Atom processor.

While MSC lists ARM among its partners, it doesn't design or distribute products for the PC or handset industries to the best of our knowledge.

At HEXUS we always found Amato to highly competent, helpful and great company when he was at AMD and we wish him all the best in his new role. The picture below shows Amato (right) at the launch of AMD's Shanghai processor last year, with former colleague (and still senior manager - advanced marketing at AMD) Ian McNaughton.
