Out of the frying pan?

HEXUS.channel can reveal that Gianluca Degliesposti, who was an EMEA VP for sales and marketing at AMD before going the way of so many AMD EMEA execs last April, has joined system builder Acer to head up its server and workstation business globally.

While we haven't yet been able to speak to Degliesposti himself, attempts to contact him have revealed he will be working out of Acer's Swiss office in Lugano. It looks like he's been consulting since he left AMD and Acer have yet to make any official announcements on the matter

It seems that Acer is hoping to mirror its huge growth in the consumer market, which has led it to be the number one system builder in Europe and third, only behind HP and Dell, globally.

An immediate concern, however, will be whether it will invest as much in infrastructure as it does sales growth and support the demands of its aspirations in these areas. We ask because its rapid expansion in the consumer market has led to some balls being dropped on the service side of things. Only time will tell.
