Trying to care
Sullied though we feel by joining the Apple rumour-mill, there seems to be enough momentum to this latest one for us to at least bring it to your attention.
At the start of the week some of the usual suspects were reporting Taiwanese manufacturer Wintek was supplying Apple with ten inch touchscreens, which would be delivered in Q3 of this year. By yesterday, Reuters and Dow Jones seemed to have their own sources within Wintek who corroborated the rumour.
But that's about it for now folks. What Apple's going to do with these touchscreens or even how many of them have been ordered remains a mystery.
It's unlikely Apple's corporate ego would allow it to make just another netbook, so we must assume that if it is going to make a ten inch touchscreen device it's more likely to be an iPhone on steroids than a regular netbook.
What will be interesting is what processor it might have. Will Apple stick with Intel or will it find ARM's new offerings too tempting? Do we even care? OMG! Now we're doing it. We dropped our guard for one second and now we're doomed to a lifetime of futile speculation about what the next shiny thing to come out of Apple might be. Not.
