Driving Windows 7
Graphics giant NVIDIA has announced the release of its first drivers produced specifically for GeForce GPU owners running the beta of Microsoft's new Windows 7 operating system.
This is the start of a regular thing for NVIDIA, which seems to be getting all excited about the fact that Windows 7, it claims, fully integrates and takes advantage of the GPU for parallel computing.
"Since its release last month, the Windows 7 Beta has been eagerly tested by hundreds of thousands of NVIDIA GeForce owners, who are excited about the many graphical improvements Microsoft has added into the upcoming operating system," said Ujesh Desai, VP of NVIDIA's GeForce desktop business.
The latest drivers are GeForce version 181.71 and support the new Windows Display Driver Model (WDDM) v1.1. According to the NVIDIA press release they: "provide an optimal visual experience in Windows 7. These drivers offer increased performance and reliability in both 2D and 3D applications, including the 3D Windows Aero desktop."
The drivers can be downloaded from nvidia.com.
