Let's get ready to bundle

Mobile phone operator O2 has announced the launch of two new mobile broadband packages that bundle one of three Samsung laptops into the deal, apparently marking the latest stage of its Retail Transformation Programme.

The cheapest deal is £29.38 per month and for that you get a 3GB data allowance and the choice of a Samsung R510 laptop or a Samsung NC10 netbook. £39.15 per month gets you 10GB data allowance and a one-off charge of £78.29 upgrades you to the higher specced R510, dubbed the O2 Multi-Media Laptop.

"Laptops are rapidly eroding the desktop PC market and at the same time, the emergence of the mini-laptop has opened up a whole new market for ultra-portable devices - one that is expected to more than double in size in 2009 alone," said O2 CEO, Ronan Dunne.

"To date, the subsidised laptop market has received some bad press due to poor equipment and frustrating customer service experiences. O2 is stepping into the market with a promise to turn this around by taking a holistic approach to the product offer."
