Internet intimacy

In a study apparently designed to prove how important the Internet is to today's American public, Intel has revealed that 65 percent of US adults feel they couldn't live without t'Internet.

The most eye-catching finding reveals that 46 percent of women and 30 percent of men would go without sex for two weeks rather than be denied internet access over the same period.

The study implies that people use the internet to keep up to date on important news stories and to find bargains. However, it's not unlikely that those 30 percent of men will have another reason to be online, and the survey doesn't make it clear whether the sex being sacrificed includes the solitary variety.

Such overlaps are finally acknowledged when it's revealed that the majority of people would also forgo the telly in favour of web access, but that they may well cheat by watching TV online.

Here are the results when the survey was asked what they couldn't live without:

  • Internet - 65%
  • Cable television subscriptions - 39%
  • Dining out - 20%
  • Shopping for clothes - 18%
  • Gym membership - 10%

If you get laid less than once a fortnight then of course you'll give up 2 weeks of normal sexual activity rather than internet access ;)
These people answering the surveys only have enough time on their hands to answer surveys because they are single :D
