Told you so
Last week HEXUS.channel reported that Pierre Brunswick, AMD's sales and marketing V.P. for Russia-CIS region, REE & Turkey - effectively its top guy in those regions - was departing the company.
We then made a few suggestions regarding who might be the most likely and capable person to take on Brunswick's responsibilities. We suggested that EMEA marketing VP Jochen Polster might be in the running as would the technical marketing director Giuseppe Amato.
We also toyed with the idea of brand new EMEA head Alberto Bozzo ending up with even more work than he'd bargained for, before suggesting that Darren Grasby - who currently heads up GPU and chipset sales for AMD in EMEA - was a front-runner.
We reasoned that what AMD needed in this area, was a well-connected fighter used to taking the fight to fierce, bigger competitors and winning belts over the distance - we therefore reckoned that Grasby more perfectly fit that profile than anyone else.
Well it looks like once again our prediction was correct, as we're hearing that AMD staff have just been notified of Grasby's promotion to Director of Channel Sales and Regional OEMs for EMEA.
HEXUS.channel extends its congratulations to Grasby on his promotion at such a pivotal time for AMD.
...but there's more. This is part of a big shake-up in AMD EMEA. Check back shortly for more news on all the movers and shakers.
