Nearly there

Earlier this month HEXUS.net predicted that Intel's next generation of processors - the Nehalem-based Core i7 - would finally make their debut in November and this has been proved to be spot on.

The Technology@Intel blog has published a short post from corporate comms guy Bill Calder. "Many people had asked when the first Nehalem-based processors were going to be available," he said.

"For those who have been watching, Intel confirmed today that the initial processors based on this new architecture began shipping to customers in Q3, and we will officially launch the new (Core i7) products next month."

"So get ready, the industry's first dynamically scalable architecture with new levels of performance and energy efficiency is coming soon," concluded Calder.

Unfortunately a precise date wasn't given and the Intel processor price list hasn't been updated since 28th September, so that's all for now. As ever, we'll keep you posted.

for the i7 itself or for the cheap c2q's it will make?
i7's core 2 is yesterdays news, i7's are the future. if im going to drop 1k on a pc, i would rather drop it on a i7 then a core 2 that will probably only last me just a year
For the same amount of money, a core 2 based system will last you a lot longer!
