Targetting retail
Giant system integrator EDS has launched a "solution designed for larger retailers in conjunction with retail software specialist Aldata. Unsurprisingly the solution is described as both "targeted" and "end-to-end".
"EDS understands that now, more than ever, retailers in all segments are facing increasing challenges due to new competitive formats entering the marketplace, the blurring of channels, consolidations and price transparency, which are driving the requirement for even more retailer differentiation," said Mike Klaus, VP of global consumer and retail Industries at EDS.
EDS, which was acquired by Hewlett Packard in May of this year, claims to offer the following to retailers: program management, business process consulting, change management, integration, hosting, help desk and applications management services. Aldata provides the software.
The new solution uses service orientated architecture (SOA)to try to make the software compatible with legacy systems. HP has also launched a new version of its SOA governance software today: HP SOA Systinet 3.00.
