Sad news

A great many in the European IT channel and Press will be shocked to learn that AMD has lost Dave Everitt, one of its most fearsome long-term gladiators.

Whilst known most recently as The AMD LIVE! Evangelist, Everitt has led many of AMD Europe’s successful battle charges against its competitors.

Serving AMD for some 22 years or more, Everitt has been one of the really key senior executives effectively driving AMD Europe’s most high-profile product launches and initiatives; including (to name but a few) its K6, Athlon, Athlon 64 and Opteron processors and AMD LIVE!

Anyone who really understands AMD, will know that a great many of the rank and file within AMD believe that Everitt was one of the most key, hands-on architects of AMD’s huge successes in Europe.

Successes which were recently confirmed to HEXUS.channel as amounting to some 40% of AMD’s global revenue.

Indeed one long-term insider has described Everitt’s career and contribution (to AMD) as “Outstanding. Dave is of the most strategic planners and executors in this business with seemingly relentless energy and passion.” “…a real and respected workhorse focussed on the win for his company and his team...” “His (Everitt’s) ability to effectively communicate and execute despite all the odds, has earned him the rep(utation).

HEXUS believes that, rather more so than the recent departure of some its even higher ranked executives, AMD globally is severely weakened by Everitt’s departure.

Indeed we reckon its worst nightmare could be if Everitt were enticed to a happy home at Intel or even NVIDIA.

More on this and related AMD stuff in due course...
