Cloud security gets more convenient

In line with the security-driven trend towards the Cloud we reported on Wednesday, Google announced a new Web Security for Enterprise service yesterday. Its sheer convenience is likely to give Google a strong advantage in the competition to provide enterprise security.

Based on Postini (bought by Google for $624 million last July) and incorporating ScanSafe technology, the service offers instant web request scanning as well as protection for roaming or remote users, in addition to existing email security and messaging compliance services.

In other security news, BT will be pre-installing mobile security software on its new smart phones. The software will be provised by Ohio-based SMobile Systems.

David Grossman, GM of mobility and convergence at BT said: “Wherever or however a customer is communicating, we want to ensure their devices remain connected and secure. After extensive testing, we chose SMobile Systems to provide the level of security required by us and our customers.”
