Security issues

Heini Zachariassen, the head of Danish security software outfit BullGuard, has announced he will be leaving the company that he has expanded from 3 to 100 employees in the five years he’s been there.

‘It has been a fantastic period at BullGuard,’ said Zachariassen. ‘I have worked hard the past three quarters with a great team to make BullGuard profitable in Q1, a target we have achieved whilst setting a new revenue record. I can only be extremely satisfied with that result.’

BullGuard chairman, Morten Steen-Jørgensen, said: ‘Heini informed the board that he believed it was time to try something else and the Board accepts his decision now that BullGuard is moving into profitability after five years of very rapid growth.’

The implication appears to be that the board wouldn’t have accepted his decision if BullGuard hadn’t been moving into profitability. You have to wonder how long ago Zachariassen first handed his notice in.

Steen-Jørgensen continued: ‘Heini has taken the company through one of the most difficult phases, building and managing rapid growth and taking the company into profitability. Very few people are capable of doing this and Heini has done a fantastic job.’

Zachariassen clearly agrees: ‘Taking a company from basic concept to an established, branded and profitable entity is what I enjoy most, so I look forward to getting my hands dirty again with a few new interesting ideas,’ he said.

Apparently a new CEO is already in place but BullGuard seems to want to keep their identity close to their chest for now.
